Original prop keychains from The Shining, from the collection of longtime Kubrick personal assistant Emilio D’Alessandro. The Overlook Hotel keychains were created for the film, and according to D’Alessandro, many were subsequently used by Kubrick as keychains for his own personal house keys. These particular keychains were given as a gift to D’Alessandro, while Kubrick held on to the original Room 237 keychain.
The keychains reference “Mount Qualo, Colorado”, the same location which appears on the Overlook Hotel prop letterhead, although no mention of this fictional city is mentioned in the finished film.
