Scale model of the Overlook Hotel porch set from The Shining. These small models were used to work out layout and scale issues, as well as to conduct early lighting tests by Director of Photography John Alcott.
In this case, a photograph of the porch model has been layered with a photo of a stand-in figure and a photograph of the existing Overlook Hotel facade built on the backlot at MGM Elstree Studios, presumably to pre-visualize the angle on the hotel they wanted to achieve when viewed from the porch.
